Project Description
REPORT:
Situated on the border of Salt Lake and West End, Dower Campus was formerly a training college for teachers and remains very well equipped. The setup for the #NoExcuse workshop was the best of the three Eastern Cape Colleges with audio visual and PA system provided and students well organised.
Although slightly disrupted by some students having to leave early to write exams the presentation was very well received with plenty of questions and sharing of personal experiences by students.
Many students expressed excitement that finally something was being done on this space of gender- based violence.

Biggest challenges you face:
“Men belittling and not respecting me.”
“Not feeling safe around men..”
“Not being valued.”
“Men feeling entitled to me as a woman as if it’s their birthright.”
“Being judged for other people’s bad behaviour.”
“NBeing falsely accused of sexually assaulting a woman.”
What will you change?
“After this workshop I will never abuse any woman.”
“How I perceive women in the world.”
“Treat everyone equal no matter what their gender.”
“Become a better man and tell others about GBV.”
“Get out of abusive relationships and stand on my word.”
“The way I think about masculinity and the way I treat others.”
“I will stop abusing.”
“I will learn to love and respect others.”
“When a man beats you it’s ok to leave him.”
“To be there for my family not just financially.”
