FAN runs a programme that employs men as fulltime mentors to orphans in the community.

FAN has a twofold mission:
  • Restore and equip men to become excellent fathers and positive role models
  • Father the fatherless in the community

South Africa has an estimated 4 million orphans and vulnerable children (OVC’s), with a growing number of them living in sibling led households. The FAN programme provides mentors and surrogate fathers (FANS) to over 80 OVC’s from over 40 households. The FANS are men who were selected from the community and taken through an intensive programme of restoration and equipping for their role. All FANS take The Real Man pledge.
